Die Arbeit behandelt das Thema hybride Identitäten in Europa und fokussiert auf afropäische Identität. Es geht um die Repräsentation und den Platz, den diese Identität in Europa und in seinem kollektiven Gedächtnis einnimmt. Dabei wird auch untersucht, inwieweit ein Begriff wie ‚afropäisch’ tatsächlich relevant ist. Dies wird anhand der Literatur von May Ayim und Johny Pitts geprüft. Bei Ayim geht es um ihre Poesie und ihr Buch Farbe bekennen. Afro- deutsche Frauen auf den Spuren ihrer Geschichte (1986) und bei Pitts um seinen Reisebericht über das Schwarze Europa; Afropean. Notes from Black Europe (2019).
Abstract (eng)
The thesis deals with the issue of hybrid identities in Europe and focuses on Afropean identity. It is about representation and the place this identity occupies in Europe and in its collective memory. It also examines the extent to which a term like ‚afropean’ is actually relevant. This will be examined through the literature of May Ayim and Johny Pitts. In Ayim’s case, the focus is on her poetry and her book Farbe bekennen. Afro-deutsche Frauen auf den Spuren ihrer Geschichte (1986) and, in Pitts’ case, his travelogue on Black Europe; Afropean. Notes from Black Europe (2019).
