There are many challenges at present, and I will focus on those related to some of the current trends in book and journal publishing including the rise of open access, library publishers, and digital scholarship. Alicia Wise is the Executive Director of CLOCKSS, and also an independent consultant advising libraries, funders, and publishers on sustainable strategies for transitioning fully to open access. She was originally an archaeologist and gained her first digital preservation experiences with the Archaeology Data Service.
