Abstract (eng)
Ethics is considered an interdisciplinary subject. Ethical teaching content should therefore be linked to the reference sciences in an interdisciplinary manner. One of these reference sciences is biology. A close analysis of the curricula of the subjects biology and environmental studies as well as ethics reveals a number of intersections of the competence areas and curriculum contents to be taught. Many biological subjects include ethical issues in their teaching and some ethical topics are based on scientific research findings. Due to these many overlaps, numerous ethical challenges arise in biology teaching, which requires inter-disciplinary action on the part of teachers. In order to demonstrate the relevance of teaching ethical-biological content, the ethical responsibility of biology teachers becomes the topic of this work. Within a quantitative and qualitative empirical study framework, the teachers' perspective on the importance of ethics in biology classes is investigated. The results provide insight into the current implementation of this interdisciplinary responsibility in schools.
