Abstract (eng)
The topic of this master's thesis are the sounds described in Egyptian narrative texts. For this purpose, a limited corpus of narrative texts was analysed in advance with regard to lexemes describing noises and loud voices. A list of words was drawn up that could be roughly assigned to the word fields "cheering" and "shouting". This list is presented in this paper and the respective references from the narrative texts are discussed with reference to comparative texts from other text genres, such as religious texts, as well as relevant specialised literature. The description of noisy natural events also occurs in the narrative texts and is discussed. In a second step, based on the available literature, the position of the described sounds within the structure of the narratives is analysed and whether a certain narrative technique can be observed. In several narrative texts, a marking of turning points and climaxes through the description of sounds can be demonstrated.
