Poster of the exhibition "Of Colours & Patterns. Historical decorated papers at the Vienna University Library", which was shown in the foyer of the Main Library of the University of Vienna from 11 January to 1 March 2024. The exhibition, curated by Alice Dominique, Victoria Eisenheld and Irene Schödelbauer, showcased handmade decorated papers from the holdings of the Main Library and the Art History Library, created before and around 1900. Insights were given into traditional production methods such as pasting techniques, block printing and marbling, and decorative papers of particular interest were presented. The poster is an English translation of the poster on paste papers, which describes paste papers in general (in terms of technique and use) and paste papers in the Herrnhuter style in particular. The illustrations show paste papers from the holdings of the Vienna University Library which were described in the course of a project in the study programme "Library and Information Studies".
