Abstract (eng)
This master's thesis addresses the topic of "eating disorders and body image" in educational materials for secondary school levels 1 and 2. On the basis of scientific and didactic literature available educational materials in relation to the topic are examined and evaluated using a qualitative content analysis. The theoretical part of this thesis focuses on definitions, types of eating disorders, causes and risk factors for the development of eating disorders, their prevalence and consequences. The significance of this subject for pupils at secondary school level is explained on the background of didactic and subject-specific considerations as well as the integration of the topic into the school curriculum. Furthermore, health promotion in the school context is explained and relation is made to the multidimensionality of the learning field of nutrition as defined by Buchner (2011). A qualitative content analysis according to Mayring's quality criteria (2023) using MAXQDA software is implemented in the empirical part of the thesis. In the process, pre-selected and free accessible educational materials relating to the topic of "eating disorders and body images" are examined. For the data analysis, a codification guideline was created and based on this a code system was developed in MAXQDA. For the presentation of the results, a combination of qualitative and quantitative research methods was used. The main objective of this Master's thesis is to examine which educational materials are available on this theme and how they are prepared according to content, didactics and methodology. Following the didactic principles of Angele et al. (2021), the educational materials are analyzed and evaluated. Over the course of the qualitative content analysis of the learning materials, a brief profile summarizing the most important key data was created for the used documents, giving teachers an overview of the learning materials. Additionally, a collection of operators was generated with the focus on competence orientation, which is an additional benefit for teachers when selecting and creating teaching materials. In summary, the qualitative analysis of the educational materials on this key topic represents a systematic search guide for teachers, grounded in didactic principles and scientific quality criteria, which can be equally adapted to other topics.
