Silvio Piccolomini was one of his time’s most influential humanists, worked as a diplomat in Vienna and later became pope Pius II. His histories which include biography, ethnography, geography and politics set new standards. This collection contains amongst others the best selling De duobus amantibus - A Tale of Two Lovers, one of the earliest epistolary erotic novels, as well as a description of Vienna.
