Umfeld: Bei dem hier präsentierten seltenen Privatdruck (datiert 30.07.1828) handelt es sich um die erste Beschreibung der „Brown’schen Molekularbewegung“, beobachtet an Pollenkörnern von Clarkia pulchella (Onagraceae). Das Exemplar trägt die handschriftliche Widmung an Joseph Franz von Jacquin (1766-1839): „For the Baron de Jacquin with the Authors respects“. Die wichtige Arbeit erschien in Folge schnell auch im Edinburgh new philosophical journal (5, 1828, S. 358-371), im „Philosophical Magazine“ (N.S. 4, 1828, S. 161-173) und diversen anderen Zeitschriften.
