August Boeckh (oft auch Böckh, 1785 - 1867) war ein deutscher klassischer Philologe und Altertumsforscher. Boeckh war der Begründer der historischen Altertumswissenschaft, die, über die reine Textphilologie hinausgehend, das Leben der Griechen, ihre Wirtschaft und ihre Wissenschaft erforschte. 1809 veröffentlichte er Die Versmaße des Pindar, jenes Werk das seinen Ruhm in der Nachwelt begründete. Pindar (griechisch Πίνδαρος, latinisiert Pindarus; 522 oder 518 BCE - 445 BCE) war ein griechischer Dichter und zählt zum Kanon der neun Lyriker.

August Boeckh (or Böckh, 1785 - 1867) was a German classical scholar and antiquarian. Böckh was the founder of classical and ancient studies, extending the field from mere philology towards the study of ancient life, economy and science. He published De Metris Pindari, a treatise on the metres of Pindar, which placed Böckh in the first rank of scholars. Pindar (greek Πίνδαρος, latinised Pindarus; 522 or 518 BCE - 445 BCE) was an Ancient Greek lyric poet from Thebes. He was one of the canonical nine lyric poets of ancient Greece.
