»What is worthy of preservation preserves itself and we need not protect it. This is true for science and well beyond. We must never fear the aggressions of the Zeitgeist. What is viable will always resist them.« This Schrödinger quote is particularly true for the equation named after him and for many of his achievements in physics and further afield. For all his work the Austrian Nobel Prize laureate depicted on the thousand Schilling note is largely unknown in his home country. That was the very reason for this exhibition, which is to illustrate Schrödinger’s personality and his diversity to a wider audience. It is to be more than simple remembrance but an expansion of our own scientific thinking and an inspiration to spend more time on physics.
