Abstract (eng)
This study presents an analysis of the conditions which determine the status of the translation profession in Europe with respect to the didactic aspects of it. First, the different trends and proposals for teaching Translation at university are shown. Afterwards follows a description of the institutional situation of translators in the European Union, with the purpose of presenting the General Directorate for Translation of the European Commission as well as its initiative “European Masters in Translation”, which is the main focus of the study. This program, described through the examples of Spain, Germany and Austria, reflects the differences among the various university systems, which still are present in spite of several homogenization efforts, as well as how they are related to other factors in every particular country. The last part of the study takes a glimpse at the European translation market, translation didactics and its application in the labor market and makes a reflection on possible adjustments in order to improve the development of this activity from the training stage.
