Abstract (eng)
This paper predominantly deals with the current curriculum reform in Australia. After a comparison between the Austrian and Australian school systems, two Australian curricula will be analysed and compared – on the one hand the old federal Health and Physical Education (HPE) Curriculum –the Queensland Curriculum – and on the other hand, the new national HPE-Curriculum – the Australian Curriculum. Moreover, the Austrian school system
and the current Austrian Curriculum (‘Bewegungs- und Sportlehrplan’) will be addressed, so that differences and similarities regarding the Australian model can be highlighted. This analysis will specifically deal with one target group in order to extract more precise results.
Although there are various school types and curricula in Austria, only one of them will be analysed – namely the curriculum of the ‘Sekundarstufe I von allgemein bildenden höheren Schulen’. This one will later on be compared with the contents of the new national Australian Curriculum for students in Year 5, Year 6, Year 7 and Year 8. In order to conduct the curriculum analysis, a model from Stibbe and Aschebrock (2007) will be used. It not only
includes a comparison of the contents of the curricula, but also considers and reflects its developmental and implementational processes as well as their reception and impact on people. These three levels will be analysed hermeneutically and empirically – through three
interviews and one written interrogation with experts. This gained information provides detailed insights about personal implementation strategies – more specifically how they actually implement the curriculum in their teaching.
