Abstract (eng)
Previous research provides evidence of a connection between one's own body image and various aspects of sexual activity. So far, however, the results have been inconsistent and/or there are few studies on the individual aspects.
In this master thesis, data from healthy, young people in heterosexual partnerships were collected using an ambulatory assessment (n = 44, n = 29 women and n = 15 men, 19-32 years). The correlation between body image and sexual activity or sexual initiative was examined. Subsequently, two moderator analyzes were carried out with the moderators gender and sexual communication. In addition, the relationship between body image and masturbation with or without pornography consumption was examined.
No evidence was found on the connections between one's own negative body assessment and various sexual aspects. The same applies to vital body dynamics and sexual aspects, with the exception that there was a positive connection to sexual initiative. This connection seems to be moderated by gender as well as by sexual communication. In addition, there was a positive correlation between masturbation without pornography consumption and vital body dynamics.
The results only partially support the assumption of the relationship between body image and sexual activity, but also reflect the previously unclear data situation. The feeling of a vital body dynamic seems to have the most influence on the sexuality in a partnership. In this connection, gender and sexual communication seem to play a crucial role. Future research should investigate these links further.
