Abstract (eng)
This thesis examines the annexation and direct administration of the Bucovina by the Habsburg Empire. In 1775 the Bucovina has been annexed under the Emperor Joseph II and placed under military administration until 1786. Structural changes during this period included legislature, judicature, economy and population policy. By using research indicators certain political, economic and demographic measures and regulations were assigned to particular areas of interest. Those areas of interest were arranged into three different categories: geopolitical, economic and populational policy. The centre-periphery-model and the internal colonialism form the theoretical base of this diploma thesis. Therefore, an investigation of both theoretical concepts will explain the process and the motivation of the annexation of the Bucovina and its following direct administration.
