Abstract (eng)
The master's thesis deals with the development of Austrian Baroque architecture in the period from the end of the Turkish Wars to the death of Maria Theresa and the advent of Josephine Classical architecture. While before 1700 Austrian architecture was under Italian influence, in the first half of the 18th century a French orientation began to dominate. The Hof Castle of Prince Eugene of Savoy was the first example of a French Baroque castle in the Habsburg Monarchy, and due to its close distance from the imperial residence in Holíč, its architecture had an impact on the reconstruction of Holíč Castle, which was owned by Emperor Francis Stephen of Lorraine. The master's thesis tries to describe the historical and architectonic connection between the two castles and to clarify which architect could have been behind the Baroque-Classical reconstruction of Holíč Castle. At the same time, it traces the impact of both castles as model residences on other noble estates in the Habsburg Monarchy and the influence of French Baroque Classicism on the emerging architecture of Josephinism.
