Abstract (eng)
This thesis deals with the intercomprehensibility of BCS (Bosnian, Croatian, Serbian) and Russian. The comparison of these languages is intended to answer the question of whether and to what extent intercomprehension can be integrated into foreign language teaching. The implementation of the intercomprehension methodology is presented using the seven sieves of the EuroCom-Method. According to Statistik Austria (2022: 188), for 53.3 % pupils in Vienna German is not the primary language used in everyday life. A large amount of this is made up of pupils whose parents come from countries of the former Yugoslavia. Since BCS and Russian are linguistically related languages, quite a few pupils with BCS as their first or mother tongue choose Russian as their second living foreign language. Besides many linguistic similarities, learners of Russian quickly stumble over several false friends or the same endings in different cases. With this thesis, I would like to show how such differences can be classified by means of the EuroCom-Method and which exercises can be used in order to enable pupils to benefit from their first or native language. In the last chapter, further practical intercomprehension tasks are shown using a newspaper article as well as book excerpts in the languages BCS and Polish.
